Logan's Current Situation
Our local politicians should not present favoritism to private
sectors unless those parties intend to contribute to our society in a positive manner and earn the right to do so through their actions. The 2020 census shows that Logan has a 24% poverty rate. Yet, the focus of our current council has been to force residents into expensive rental properties. Where are the affordable living options?
The ability to own a home for the majority of Logan residents has become a mockery. Our city officials have contributed to an even wider financial gap between the social economic classes. In a time of a pandemic and a time of an affordable housing crisis, laws and rezoning have put the majority of Logan present and future residents into rental projects. They are catering to resort development for only those of privileged economic status. They’ve waivered, granted tax deferments, and restructured Logan’s infrastructure. Millions of dollars have been granted through Rural Development Advances funding developers that don’t reside in our county or contribute to our economy. Always the same ones? Why aren’t we getting more bids and utilizing alternative options?
Homeowners are the backbone of our nation as well as our local economy. Our renter/owner ratios are lopsided. Rentals wear down a community while homeowners build it up. I want to put together more options for people to invest into a home where they can earn economic equity. Our green spaces are being taken over by land barons in order to appease shareholders in these development companies and it is costing our residents safety, money, and quality of life. With your VOTE and consent, I’ll go to work FOR YOU.
